DR. RYAN SMART DMD, MD, FACS
We are please to welcome Dr. Ryan Smart to Grand Parkway Smiles. Dr. Ryan Smart is an Board Certified Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon with additional training in head and neck oncology & Micro-vascular Reconstructive Surgery, born and raised in Montana. After completing a bachelor’s degree in Helena, MT at Carroll College, he worked for the State of Montana in the Department of Public Health during a year-long volunteer service through AmeriCorps. Following this, he moved to Boston and completed a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Ryan Smart completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency from Harvard Medical School receiving his Doctor of Medicine (MD).
Dr. Smart completed the combined General Surgery/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training program at Massachusetts General Hospital and was responsible for teaching third year medical students in trauma, emergency and general surgery principles during surgical rotation. Dr. Smart did an additional 2 years training in Head & Neck Oncology and Micro-vascular Reconstructive Surgery at Louisiana State University. He is Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Dr. Ryan Smart list of awards include but are not limited to Dr. Frank Susi Endowed Prized for Excellence in research, American Academy of Oral medicine Certification, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Horace Wells Award, Induction into Robert Andrews research society at Tufts Dental School
Dr. Smart’s Clinical practice includes full scope Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with an interest in the treatment of diseases of the head and neck region as well as reconstructive surgery. Dr. Smart has co-authored chapters and articles pertinent to the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Head & Neck Oncology. Outside of work Dr. Smart enjoys sparring in jiu-jitsu but most importantly spending time with his wife and two children.
